Although the Septarian towers might resemble some sort of ancient critter fossil, but it is not a fossil. It is still quite old; millions and millions of years to form with a combination of yellow calcite, brown aragonite, grey limestone and white or clear barite giving it such a unique appearance.
Even cooler? Get a black light and shine it on the crystal! The really dark patterns on the outside will be bright pink and glow.
